DJ Mix Of The Week

This week we have two party DJs (my kind of party, anyway), playing back to back – DJ Paulette vs Prosumer from Gala Festival in 2024

Neither should need much of an introduction, from Manchester and (I think) Saarbrücken respectively, they’ve both been DJing for decades, though have had differing experiences – Prosumer became a highly-respected resident at Panorama Bar, DJ Paulette through ground-breaking British clubs such as the Hacienda and Ministry Of Sound (well it was originally ground-breaking).

With Prosumer you are more likely to hear house music and DJ Paulette disco, at least in my limited knowledge of the latter – the former I’ve been listening to for decades. Yet both are capable of playing a wider range of sounds.

And this mix follows suit – starting with Cerrone’s Supernature, a hint that you are in for a treat.

There are some predictable (but good) tracks on here, such as Gwen McCrae’s Keep The Fire Burning, a house version of Idris Muhammad’s Could Heaven Ever Be Like This and Barbara Tucker’s Stop Playing With My Mind – none of them new to anyone but all working so well in the mix. Because…
