There is no DJ out there introducing me to so much good new music, as Ben UFO.

His Hessle Audio radio shows (well not just “his” shows) on Rinse FM are absolute must listens – I could write about many of them, though as they feature some of the more challenging underground dance music around, there’s a few that repel me sufficiently.

This radio show is a real highlight though. Classic Ben UFO strangeness for the first 45 minutes or so – FFT’s Disturb Roqe 4 is the perfect encapsulation of bleepy electronica, as classy as Atom TM at their best.

If that was too challenging for you, then the hour-long mix from Ben UFO with Objekt is more up-tempo, if still keeping some of the oddness about it.

Flecked with breaks, it starts slow but grows and growls as suggests that it might kick into gear – though I’d assume this is the early part of the night so it doesn’t really bang.

Notable moments also include Autechre’s Second Peng – I can only imagine how that would sound on a proper sound-system, and FFT’s Disturb Roqe 5 – which is even better than number 4.

I guess plenty of people wont’ get it. But it feels futuristic to my ears.
